Funded through Romania’s 2021–2027 Transport Program, the €1.32 billion project is the most significant road investment in the nation’s history.

The agreement was signed on April 10, 2025, in the presence of Romanian Prime Minister Ion-Marcel Ciolacu, Transport Minister Sorin Grindeanu, CNAIR General Manager Cristian Pistol, Procurement Director Nicolea Mihai Horia and Özaltın Holding Chairman Hayrettin Özaltın.

The project includes an 18-month design phase followed by 60 months of construction, with final delivery scheduled for October 2031. Once finished, the highway will enhance connectivity across Romania’s western, central, and northern regions — strengthening national integration and expanding the country’s strategic transport network.
